Although Ji Qingxiang was founded in the late Qing Dynasty, its origins can be traced back to the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. According to legend, after Emperor Yongli of the Ming Dynasty retired to Kunming, he was worried all day long and did not want to eat. An imperial chef ingeniously chose Xuanwei ham and diced meat, mixed with honey and sugar to fill it with filling, and called it "cloud leg bun". Because of its strong aroma and mellow taste, sweet and salty, after enjoying Yongli, the dragon's face was very happy and listed as the imperial meal.
After the fall of the Ming Dynasty, the practice of cloud-legged buns was introduced to the people from the palace. After baking "Yun Leg Buns", Hexianglou Pastry Shop, founded in Kunming in 1860, used Yunnan's unique "Xuanwei Ham" as the main ingredient, supplemented with sugar, honey, lard, cooked noodles, etc. to create shells. A hard and golden, unique fragrance, oily and non-greasy, crispy and delicious. After eating the snacks tributed by the Yunnan Governor, Empress Dowager Cixi felt very good, so she immediately named the snacks and called them "Small Ham Tiao Tuo". The "four kilograms of ham" that have been passed down gradually evolved into the prototype of Yunle Mooncake, and the 150-year history of Yunle Mooncake began.
According to legend, Ji Qingxiang began to settle in Kunming in 1922. In Kunming in the early 20th century, Jiqingxiang was incredible in scenery: a gate several meters wide opened to both sides, the high threshold echoed the two-meter-long plaque "Jiqingxiang Chenji" and there was a window on the left and right sides of the gate. The above "Dust Flying White Snow" and "Jade Chip Gold Mud" are listed on both sides of the plaque "Jiqingxiang Chen Ji". These words are all written by the calligrapher Chen Rongchang. The brushwork is strong and the three plaques form a whole, complementing each other. Various pastries are placed on the half-person-high wooden counter in turn, waiting for customers to purchase.
After a hundred years, these scenes of the prosperous period have dissipated with the wind. In order to commemorate, Jiqingxiang Food Co., Ltd. carved this period of time on the wall where you enter the door, and the black sculptures were leaping on the wall with heavy and vicissitudes.
