Brand Introduction

Get rid of the constraints and cross the boundaries. McLaren is not only focused on breakthroughs and transcendence, but also committed to innovating and redefining sports cars. McLaren expects to create an amazing high-performance road sports car that will bring customers an exciting driving experience. Innovation is at the heart of all McLaren’s work, and when meeting every challenge, McLaren asks the same question first: How can we do better? This unswerving innovative spirit has been promoted and implemented in McLaren. McLaren has always strived to be perfect in the design process, devoted himself to creating cutting-edge technologies, breaking through industry norms and promoting the continuous upgrading and improvement of automobiles in speed, performance and dynamic engineering. Based on this car manufacturing concept, a series of models have been launched that can not only play good track performance but also roam on the highway.

In 1952, 15-year-old Bruce McLaren participated in his first car race in his life, when he was just a student. In just seven years, he won the Grand Prix in his solo racing career. Afterwards, he formed a fleet. To this day, the racing spirit of McLaren’s founder remains the development tenet of McLaren’s road sports car department. It is his unremitting pursuit of innovation, his firm determination to make breakthroughs and advancement, and his passion for passionate driving that has created every McLaren car that has been carefully built today.

In the 50-year history of racing, McLaren has created a series of iconic and exciting road sports cars. Epoch-making milestones occurred in the 1988 season, team leader Ron Dennis and technical director Gordon Murray began to develop the ultimate road sports car - McLaren Road Sports Car. In 1993, McLaren F1 was born. Two years later, the glory of Le Mans was rewritten by the McLaren F1 GTR, a move that transformed the great supercar of the times into a very successful British car of the contemporary era.

When McLaren F1 used carbon fiber monomers earlier, it took 3,000 hours for each carbon fiber chassis to be built. Today, it only takes 4 hours to create the MonoCell, a carbon fiber monomer at the core of the McLaren 12C Spider. This breathtaking progress indirectly proves McLaren's unparalleled knowledge in carbon fiber technology and its unparalleled technical achievements in using this material.

From the outstanding McLaren 12C to the highly anticipated McLaren P1™, each car here integrates racing-derived technology, pioneering innovation and a prestigious persistence in detail. In January 2007, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holdings, a wholly-owned enterprise in the Kingdom of Bahrain, acquired a 30% stake in McLaren Group. The current equity structure of the group is: DaimlerChrysler holds 40%, Mumtalakat Holdings holds 30%, Langn Dennis holds 15%, and TAG Group (Holdings) SA holds 15%. McLaren will continue to be run by its existing management team.
