Brand Introduction

International Aero Engines (IAE) was founded in 1983 to develop engines for 150 seats single-aisle aircraft. The company is a joint venture between four aircraft engine manufacturers, including Pratt & Whitney (responsible for the combustion chamber and high-pressure turbine part), Rolls Royce (responsible for the high-pressure compressor part), Japan Japan Aero Engine (responsible for the fan and low-pressure Compressor part) and German MTU aero engine (responsible for the low pressure turbine part).

history

The initial cooperation was Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Japan Aero Engine, and MTU Aero Engine, Germany. FiatAvio was once one of the major shareholders, but it was withdrawn from its capital in the early days of its establishment. However, FiatAvio, which is now renamed, is still a supplier. The “V” product naming remains the legacy of the five original shareholders.

In October 2011, Rolls-Royce agreed to sell its 32.5% stake to Pratt & Whitney’s parent company United Technologies (UTC), giving UTC a combined share of 49.5% (with UTC’s share of 61% in IAE. different). The transaction was completed on June 29, 2012.
