In 1845, Onorata Comitti, an Italian instrument maker, traveled to England to seek a new future, when England was in an unprecedented boom of the Industrial Revolution, and in 1850, he Crackenwell, London opened a factory. Dedicated to innovation and the pursuit of perfection, he soon gained a reputation for making exquisitely high-quality mercury and liquid-free barometers. In the late Queen Victoria, the company also worked on making exquisite clocks and received a certificate of honor in 1888 for its outstanding craftsmanship. Many early designs are still available today. They are considered British classics and are widely collected as valuable antiques. Kenmidy still sticks to family operations and is internationally renowned for his outstanding craftsmanship and British clocks.
Although technology has made great progress in design and manufacturing, the basic principles established over the past two hundred years have not changed. Kenmidy recreates the British movement with this unique heritage, fully handcrafted and assembled, with the gear combination refined, handmade and polished from brass. The floor clock made by Kenmidy is a work of art and a inheritance worthy of future generations.
