On January 12, 1935, Marigaux was founded by three partners, Messrs. Strasser, Marigaux and Lemaire, so the old name of the company: SML. Marigaux started its business at 144 boulevard de la Villette in Paris, producing saxophones and flutes. Meanwhile, production of oboes and clarinets began in a workshop in Couture Boussey, a village in the Eure region of the French craft cradle.
Marigaux makes orchestral instruments for musicians around the world, and today from Berlin to Tokyo, from Los Angeles to Sydney, Marigaux has a reputation among the great orchestras for its flagship instruments: the oboe and the British. The wood used to make musical instruments (Mozambique ebony) is selected very strictly, only retaining the wood without defects, which allows the company to guarantee product quality, thanks to sound accuracy. Each component of the instrument is carefully inspected to ensure good operation.
