Louis Royer
Louis Roye grew up in a house on the banks of the Charentes in Jarnak. He was very familiar with vineyards when he was young and knew the process of making wine and distillation. At the age of 20, he worked as a wine collector. Mr. Louis Royer got inspiration from the honey collection process of bees, used it to improve the raw material selection and base wine mixing in the cognac process, and learned from the organizational structure of the bee community to design an ideal company model. Therefore, Mr. Louis directly uses bees as a symbol of foreign wine. In 1853, he established the Cognac Factory where he grew up, at the age of 24. He first established a culvert shop, and soon built a distillation workshop for the barrel making factory. After four generations, the company was acquired by Suntory in 1989.
In July 2015, Suntory Holdings Limited sold Louis Royer SAS to French privately held premium spirits company Terroirs Distilers. The deal includes the Louis Royer cognac brand, aging stocks and a factory in France.
