Zhang Tongtai was an old business in Hangzhou during the Qing Dynasty. It was founded in 1805, about 70 years earlier than Hu Qingyutang. It is very famous in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas for its authentic Chinese herbal medicines. In 2000, it was listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Hangzhou.

Founder Zhang Mei is from Cixi, Zhejiang. In the fifth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1800), Maochang Medicine Number was opened under the Xingong Bridge in Hangzhou. In the tenth year of Jiaqing, Shen Tongtai medicine number was added and named Zhang Tongtai. Zhang Tongtai produces various pills, paste pills, and medicinal wines. It is well-known in the Hangzhou-Jiahu area and is as famous as Hu Qingyutang and Yezhongdetang. In the first year of the Republic of China, after a large-scale renovation of the pharmacy, a new house was completed and a stone wall door was rebuilt, with the "Wanxiang" trademark engraved on it. The gold-plated characters of "Zhang Tongtai" are shining brightly. The bronze medal of "Zhang Tongtai's authentic medicinal materials" is hung on both sides of the door, and more than 360 traditional medicines are made. The first batch of "time-branded enterprises" entered the Ministry of Commerce.
