In 1405 (the third year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty), Ding Heniantang Medical Center and Chinese Medicine Shop were founded by Hui poet, famous medical scientist and health care master Ding Henian in Caishikou, Beijing. He also set out the precedent for setting up a store with health care.
Ding Henian saved the world with a pot of money. He waived consultation fees to many poor scholars and poor people who went to Beijing to take the exam, and also distributed medicines to the poor during the epidemic. It is the earliest pharmacy in China with historical records, more than 200 years earlier than Tongrentang. Old Beijingers know that "Pan Pills and Paste Dan Tongrentang, Decoctions and Drinks and Potions and Heniantang."

There is a precious plaque in Henian Hall, which reads "Revitalize the Vitality" and "Health Taihe". The author is Qi Jiguang, a famous Ming Dynasty anti-Japanese general. Yang Jisheng, a famous minister of the Ming Dynasty, also admired the minds and significant health effects of Heniantang absorbing hundreds of schools of thought and a special couplet, "If you want to nourish your nature and prolong your life, you must be a family of eclectics."

The original site of Henian Hall is located on the north of Yixi Road, Tiemen Hutong, Caishikou Street, Xuanwu District, and the west entrance of Luma City Street. It is opposite to Prime Minister Hutong and adjacent to Niujie where Hui people live. In 1999, the former Ministry of Domestic Trade awarded Heniantang the title of "China Time-honored Brand". In December 2005, after long and careful verification, the relevant state departments officially announced that Heniantang was "a time-honored brand in Beijing, the first in history" and issued a plaque and certificate. The first time since the Republic of China is that a company has been identified as "the first in history" by relevant state departments.

It has also been passed down to this day, meaning that famous doctors gathered in Heniantang, gathered famous medicines, and gathered famous prescriptions.

Heniantang has excavated and sorted out 108 kinds of medicinal foods, 138 kinds of medicinal porridge, 36 kinds of medicinal wine, 82 kinds of medicinal soups, etc. Most of them come from the palace secret recipes and folk prescriptions, which combine them into different series of products such as the "Eternal Life and Eternal Spring Wine" in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty and the "Secretly Made the Four Treasures Wine of the Heniantang" in the Wanli period are all unique product advantages of Heniantang.
