Brand Introduction

Tetra is a well-known German aquarium brand and is headquartered in the small town of Melle in the Lower Saxony state in northern Germany. By 2021, Decai has a history of 70 years and is the first brand in the world to invent tropical fish sliced food and produce it in industrialized production. It was acquired by Spectrum Brands, a listed American company in 2005.

In the 1950s, there were only about 50,000 fish farmers in Germany, and raising ornamental fish was a very time-consuming and complicated task. Because aquarium enthusiasts need to catch live food from streams and rivers to provide natural nutrition for ornamental fish. This primitive feeding method is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and cannot guarantee that ornamental fish can consume enough nutrients and cannot make the production of aquarium products industrialized.

In 1955, German natural scientist Dr. Ulrich Baensch invented the world's first ornamental fish flake feed TetraMin. TetraMin is Greek, meaning four vitamin-containing flakes. TetraMin is composed of four different types of vitamin-containing flakes. Tetra means Greek 4, while Min is the third syllable of VITAMIN* vitamin. Tetra Decai Company's German name Tetra also comes from this. Decai Company industrialized the production of this ornamental fish thin feed, which led to the revolution in raising ornamental fish, and a brand new aquarium industry was born and flourished. Today, TetraMin, composed of 40 selected raw materials, has become a fish food used by many ornamental fish enthusiasts around the world.

Today, Tetra products are sold to more than 120 countries/regions worldwide through a global regional alliance network, with offices in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, the United States, Japan, Singapore and China.
