POWERSLIDE has been helping people discover their love for skating since it was founded in 1994 by Matthias Knoll and his business partner Stefan Gö. POWERSLIDE was originally a distribution company that offers a range of skates and products, mostly from existing brands. In fact, during the inline boom, Powerslide distributed over 50 brands.
The skating boom came to an abrupt end in 1997, and many brands left the market. When many companies abandoned the sport, Matthias saw an opportunity to disrupt POWERSLIDE's business strategy. As a distributor, POWERSLIDE does not rely on other companies’ products and decisions, but develops and designs its own innovative products and brands, all focusing on four key pillars: innovation, quality, performance and design.
Later that year, Powerslide's first original brand was born. Upsidedown (later renamed Universal Skate Design or “USD”) was, and is still a groundbreaking inline skates brand, developing some of the world’s innovative and functional skates ever made.
POWERSLIDE is constantly evolving, with more and more well-known brands offering high-quality, innovative skates, wheels, bearings, protective equipment and all the products people need to redefine the possibility of wheels.
