Brand Introduction

NSP was born in 2001 with the vision of Bruce “Buzz” Hansen, a lifelong surfer, skater and all-around sailor. While working in Maui as a custom surfboard manufacturer, Buzz realized that it was producing surfboards that were affordable, versatile, durable and performing well. Buzz is rightly aware that some everyday surfers need affordable surfboards to perform in Hawaii, but they don't need "customized" or dedicated competitions or extreme surfboards.

His dream is to make a practical surfboard that can sit in the back of a pickup truck to go to the beach, bask in the sun all day, or lend it to a friend without worrying about damage – of course it has to surf well enough to be given to him for a long time Surfing buddies, neighbors and friends.

The exploration began, so Buzz gathered his friends who worked for an advanced composite material manufacturer with the goal of creating a lightweight, durable surfboard at a competitive price. They collaborated on launching a new epoxy technology that will continue to revolutionize the industry, most likely casual surfing. Weekends and occasional surfers no longer need to rely on underperforming “bubble” or be downgraded to the old board market.

The team's codename during the development process is "New Surf Project". The name is stuck and "NSP" is established. Over the years, NSPs have been changing and evolving, and so have their names. Today, NSP stands for “Nature,” “Surfing,” and “Product,” because at the end of the day, that’s what the company aims.

NSP began selling in Hawaii and Australia in 2002 and was immediately successful, making it easier for everyone to enjoy surfing. Create amazing products that firmly maintain NSP ’s surfing roots while NSP expands on other exciting water sports along with professional designers, engineers and materials. Choosing reuse, recycling or renewable resources wherever possible is crucial to the NSP brand and create a more sustainable future for NSP itself and our movement.
