The Metekno Group originally originated in the construction and engineering industries, not the traditional metallurgy industry. The group's first company is Metecno SpA, founded in 1961, and its predecessor was Metallotecnica Italiana snc, a small engineering company founded in 1960 and based in Milan, Italy. The company is more like a service company, with its main business being to implement the traditional "sandwich" system in construction projects. Using standard board products and components, the surface installation of the building can be completed in four different stages; lay the first board, then put the gasket, then fill it with insulation material (especially mineral wool), and finally lay the second Block board.

After the company became Metecno SpA in 1961, due to the growth of demand, the company began to explore and research aimed at achieving integrated prefabricated products (component panels). The goal of this product is to make this type of building more efficient, safer and faster. In the same year, a widely used polyester composite was popularized in Europe. This is a rigid polyurethane foam that ensures effective insulation and excellent, firm sheet adhesion. It is precisely because of the intuition that the two materials may be used together that Metecono became the first company in the world to decide to invest in the implementation of automated systems for the continuous production of thermally insulated composite panels.

In 1965, at the Tribiano factory (near Milan, Italy), the company's three founders and young engineer Giorgio Tognelli established the first continuous production line of insulation sandwich panels. This real revolution brought about the birth of the “component panel system” that Metecono and its partners will promote around the world, not just a single product.

Its success has brought about a pandemic of composite panel products. In fact, the prefabricated plates launched in the construction market are better than traditional assembled at that time: external metal plates, intermediate insulation materials, and inner metal plates, which brought revolutionary progress at the construction site: time-saving, saving Money, efficient. It is precisely because of the founders of Metekno that are keen on the market and their control over technology that global expansion has become a reality. First, it serves local users and stands out among competitors around the world by establishing new production companies in Europe (France, UK, Turkey) and later in the United States, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
