Founded in 2012 by CEO Austin Russell, Luminar, started with a new lidar from the chip level, with technological breakthroughs in all core components. Therefore, Luminar has created a lidar sensor that meets demanding performance, safety and cost requirements, enabling L3 to L5 autonomous vehicles to be used.
Luminart launches the automotive-grade lidar Hydar and Iris series. Hydra is a high-performance lidar used for testing and development projects. This enables projects that require long-distance, high-point density performance in all conditions, including direct sunlight, rain, snow, fog, and other challenging weather conditions to accelerate research and development activities. Luminar rebuilds lidar from chip level to meet stringent safety and economic requirements. In addition to the automotive industry, Hydra also provides high-performance imaging for a wide range of applications including safety and security. Hydra has a camera-like resolution, up to 200 points per squared, with high data fidelity and can see the location of objects - even small or dark objects at a distance.
Luminar's Hydra LiDAR sensor provides the detection range required to unlock your application. The sensor can detect 5% of the reflective target at 165 meters and 10% of the reflective target at 250 meters, with a detection rate greater than 90%. The sensor can also detect small objects like wires over distances of more than 100 meters.
Luminar is committed to efficient detection and classification of small objects at long distances. Solve highly accurate three-dimensional measurements, including small objects such as electrical wires. In addition to three-dimensional point clouds, Luminar's Hydra LiDAR sensor measures energy reflected from targets and provides camera-like images. The increase in high resolution reflectivity provides dimensions for data, which can be leveraged to improve detection and classification algorithms. The higher laser power brought by using a 1550nm laser source, coupled with multiple echoes detected in each measurement, can penetrate unfavorable weather and shade. This in turn supports all weather, daytime and nighttime applications.
Luminar's Iris is an advanced autonomous lidar solution for series production. It solves the fundamental problem of reliable long-distance sensing in real-world systems. From scene monitoring to vehicle control, it can operate under harsh conditions from -40℃ to +85℃, including shock and vibration, for the series of production projects of SOP in early 2022, namely SAIC Viagra, internal model code ES33, on which There are 33 sensors in total, including lidar, imaging radar and 22 cameras in and around the vehicle.
