In the 1850s, Ernest Francillon, Agassiz's nephew, took over the watch business. Francillon wanted to build a factory and use production machinery to achieve all processes from assembly to completion.

To realize his vision, in 1866 he purchased two adjacent lands on the right bank of the Suze River, which flowed through the Saintmier valley, because it was called "Les Longines", so he established manufacturing in 1867 It was named after "Les Longines" when it was factory. Ernest Francillon hired a young engineer named Jacques David from his relatives to assist him in developing equipment and improving the manufacturing process and processes of watches. During the 1870s, Francillon's insistence on industrialization choices achieved good results. Until the 20th century, factories maintained a strong momentum of continuous development and growth. In 1911, Longines watch factory had more than 1,100 employees, and clockwork works were sold all over the world. In 1889, Francillon registered a patent for the manufacturing brand composed of Longines' name and flying wing hourglass graphics. Today, Longines has become a unique brand with a long history, unmodified and still vibrant international registrations among all the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI).
