Brand Introduction

The Hoshino Music Instrument Company, which makes Ibanez guitar, was originally a small store selling books and stationery. It was originally named Hoshino Bookstore and was founded in 1908. The second year after its establishment, it began to engage in the sales of musical instruments and became the earliest musical instrument store in Japan. In 1920, Hoshino Bookstore began the import and export business of internationally renowned musical instruments, and in 1930, it began its independent guitar manufacturing and sales. Its history as a manufacturer of Ibanez began from now on. The name “Ibanez” comes from the first half of its name “Ibanez Salvador”. At that time, it should be pronounced as "Ebinniez".

Hoshino's sales career went smoothly until World War II, but later, because the factory and office buildings were burned down by the war, Hoshino Musical Instruments once stopped production activities. In 1950, with the advent of peace, Hoshino Musical Instruments regrouped again, but at that time they only imported and exported acoustic guitars. In 1960, the operator of Ibanez keenly felt the rock music prosperity driven by the Beatles, and then began to operate the electric guitar. In order to make guitars again, they set up the "Doman Production Office (now the predecessor of TAMA drum factory)" in 1962 to manufacture electric guitars.
