In 1970, Ferretti Shipyard displayed two motorized sailing ships with lengths of 10 meters and 12 meters at the Genoa Ship Show. The Altura 33, which followed closely behind, was a fiberglass motorized sailboat made by Ferretti.

Over the next decade, the company made a major decision: vigorously improve manufacturing capabilities and process technology to move toward the production of larger and more amazing motor yachts. This major decision triggered many changes in the yacht market and set a new world standard for yacht design: the placement of the stern rudder: the folding windows of the reception cabin and the stern deck; the internal staircase leading from the reception cabin to the flybridge... The company's commitment has received a positive and enthusiastic response from the customers. Therefore, the engineering department specializing in R&D was established in 1989. The company's exciting thing in the 1990s was that Norberto Ferretii made many achievements in international rowing events, including the two triumphs of the 1994 and 1997 World Navigation Championships. The success of the Ferretti Yacht quickly expanded from the coast of Italy to the entire Mediterranean, followed by the United States and the world. Ferretti Yacht achieved sales of 190 million euros during the 2004-2005 sailing years (from September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2005).
