In 1873, 17-year-old Epaminondas (abbreviated as Epd) was taken to his factory by his father to help make musical instruments. In 1915, Epaminondas combined his nickname with Greek letters, so the first instrument with the Epiphone logo was born.
In the 1830s, guitar became the main string instrument, and Gibson and Epiphone competed fiercely in orchestral instruments and jazz guitars. During World War II, Epiphone went bankrupt and the outstanding achievements it created before the war became a thing of the past.
Several years later, Chigaro Musical Instrument, the parent company of Gibson, acquired Epiphone, making it a subsidiary of Gibson. In 1958, Gibson rebuilt the Epiphone production line at Kalamazoo in Michigan, and the musical instruments produced quickly became the reputation and glory of the Epiphone reconstruction.
Perhaps the best proof of Epiphone quality was that in 1965, a rock band called "Beatles" bought three Epiphone Casinos. Before Beatles disbanded in 1970, they recorded many classic songs, including "Paperback Writer" and "Ticket to ride", they also used Casino on a tour in 1966 in the United States.
In addition, Paul Mccartney bought an Epiphone Texan box piano, which was used to record the classic "Yesterday".
