Brand Introduction

It all started in 1972 when Don Lombardi, then 26, opened a small teaching studio in Santa Monica, California, offering private lessons and workshops.

DW is full name Drum Workshop. It is an American drum set brand founded in 1972. It is dedicated to hand-made high-quality musical instruments and is a high-quality drum manufacturer. DW's innovative advances in wood tone quality have also changed the process of custom drums, led by John Goode's unwavering creativity. DW hardware and pedals are trusted by phenomenal drummers and are considered by many professional players as the industry standard.

DW's main handmade custom drum set is the cornerstone of its industry position. At the moment when many manufacturers have moved their production lines to mainland China and Taiwan, most of DW drum sets are still insisting on making them locally in the United States, and their products have high customization freedom that other brands cannot compare to.

Jonathan Moffett used DW's drum set to play "Beat It" for MJ, and then used DW's drum set again on a 1987 tour with Madonna. In 1989, Tommy Lee, the legendary drummer of the band Motley Crue, bought a set of drums from this unknown small brand at the time, and then became the spokesperson for DW. A year later, DW launched a complete drum series on NAMM (National Music Merchants Association), and DW became a hit since then. Now, well-known drummers such as Sheila E, Terry Bozzio, Neil Peart and Gary Novak have used DW's drum sets, hammers or hardware.
