In 1923, DJ De Pree and his father-in-law (herman Miller) acquired the Michigan Star Furniture Company, which became the most well-known Herman Miller. De Pree hired designer Gilbert Rohde in 1930; Gilbert Rohde pioneered a modern era of problem-solving design.
