Danfoss’ creative future concept can be traced back to September 1, 1933, when Mez Clawson founded Danfoss at his parents’ farm in Norburgh, Denmark. Since then, Danfoss has grown from a small business to become a leading global supplier of innovative and energy-efficient solutions.

Since Mads Clausen founded Danfoss, his passion for innovative customer solutions has been deeply rooted in Danfoss' blood. Danfoss innovation can be seen from constant temperature expansion valves used in refrigeration systems to one of the constant temperature control valves that regulate heat, to the global mass-produced frequency converters, and telematics services used in precision agriculture today.

In the 1930s, constant temperature expansion valves - water valves, thermostats, pressure switches, filter dryers, etc. were introduced. In the 1940s, the prototype design of the world's first temperature-controlled radiator valve was completed, and the fuel controller and nozzle were introduced. In the 1950s, constant temperature radiator valves began to be mass-produced. Danfoss implements a check-in system to achieve early digital achievements. The fuel preheater was launched in 1974, and the VLT® frequency converter controlled Audi's transmission lines; a SONOFLO® ultrasonic flowmeter was developed. In the 1980s, the ECT weather compensation control panel and ADAP-KOOL control system were introduced. In the 1990s, Nessie® hydraulic transmission technology was known as "innovation in the century"; EVITA® oxygen measuring instruments were launched on the market. In the 2000s, Danfoss Fluid Controls A/S merged with Sauer to form Sauer-Danfoss; Danfoss acquired several heating technology companies, including DEVI, Thermia and LPM.

In 2012, Danfoss integrated the speed change technology into commercial air conditioners and launched the Danfoss Link™ smart heating. In 2014 alone, 213 new patents were obtained. In 2019, Danfoss established an IoT partnership with Microsoft to bring expertise in the cooling and HVAC fields to the “cloud” space. Starting from January 2021, the Refrigeration and Heating Divisions have joined forces to form the Danfoss Climate Solution Division. In August 2021, Danfoss completed the acquisition of Eaton Hydraulics business, which resulted in the expansion of Danfoss Group's business scale by 30%, with revenue exceeding 7 billion euros. After the acquisition is completed, Denver Power Systems has become a global leader in mobile hydraulics and industrial hydraulics.

With its unremitting pursuit of success, Danfoss founder Metz Clawson started out as a global company, and even today Danfoss is still a benchmark for innovation. Danfoss’ core philosophy is to maintain Danfoss’ “essence” and always adhere to the Core&Clear strategy.
