Ye Kaitai is not a human name, but just the name of a time-honored Chinese medicine store - Ye Kaitai Pharmacy. Ye Kaitai's founder is Ye Wenji, from Anhui. His father is an old folk Chinese doctor, known as Ye Shenxian. In the fourth year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1631), due to Li Zicheng's rebellion, Anhui was in chaos. Ye Wenji fled to Hankou Town, Hubei Province with his father, and set up a medicine stall near the Guqintai in Hanyang to practice medicine and sell medicine. Ye Wenji bought a blue brick ancient house at the 23rd Dajia Street in Hanzheng Street, Hankou, and officially launched the sign "Ye Kaitai Pharmaceutical Shop". The name was Ye Kaitai, which was Ye Shenxian's instructed: "The Ye family medicine shop was opened, and it only seeks peace and prosperity for the country and the people." With the surname Ye, it added the meaning of Kaitai, it was named Ye Kaitai. Shortly afterwards, it was renamed Ye Kaitai Pharmacy, and it was known as the four major pharmacies in China, along with Tongrentang, Chen Liji and Hu Qingyu, which were listed at that time.
