Since 1864, VingCard Elsafe's parent company began to produce high-quality door locks. By the late 1970s, the world entered a era of rapid change. In 1976, Sørnes invented a mechanical card key door lock in Moss, Norway, and sold it to the Westin Peachtree Center in Atlanta, USA in 1979. In the following years, VingCard insisted on developing card key door locks and in 1992 launched the VingCard 3000 electronic door lock. So far, VingCard has completed a gorgeous turn from a simple door lock manufacturer to a billion-dollar high-tech industry.
Meanwhile, Elsafe (located in Lexvik, Norway) launched an electronic safe in the guest room in 1976. This innovative invention has eliminated the metal key safe, greatly reduced maintenance costs, simplified front desk operations, and provided customers with higher safety and ease of use.
In 1994, VingCard and Elsafe became part of the larger independent door lock group ASSA ABLOY, which consists of more than 100 subsidiaries around the world. In 1997, VingCard and Elsafe's global sales and marketing forces made them the largest providers of room safety solutions. Over the next few years, VingCard and Elsafe continue to develop electronic door lock solutions and room safes, while also covering the global sales network. The two companies successfully merged in 2006 and have now covered more than 166 countries around the world.
