Brand Introduction

Founded in 1885, Trane is a family plumbing business in La Crosse, Wisconsin. With the addition of his son Reuben, a mechanical engineer, James Trane has developed an innovative low-pressure steam heating system. In 1913, the family merged into Trane Company.

Over the next hundred years, Trane established its position as a pioneer in temperature control systems. In 1931, the company obtained the patent for its first air conditioner. Seven years later, Trane released the Turbovac, a new water refrigerator that revolutionized the industry’s approach to large-scale building air conditioning systems. These early innovations pave the way for Traling’s industry commercial air conditioning CenTraVac™, a highly efficient, low-emission chiller on the market. Throughout the second half of the 20th century, Trane expanded its products to its customers. Trane expanded its home air conditioning and energy management products after the acquisition of Sentinel Electronics in the late 1970s and GE's central air conditioning division in 1982. In 1984, American Standard Companies, Inc., acquired Trane and four years later, it released the "American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning" brand. In 2007, American Standard Companies was split and Tran restored its leadership in business and integrated HVAC services and solutions.

Today, Trane maintains a solid global market share and continues to grow at a faster pace. The core factor that promotes development is the inheritance of the same values, which shaped Wisconsin plumbing enterprises a hundred years ago.

Today, a hundred years after the father and son merged the family plumbing business, Trane continues to move forward steadily. By working with industries and consumers, we work together to develop game-changing solutions that meet the needs of today’s dynamic markets.
