SHW's history can be traced back to 1365, when the company's business was to smel iron ore. Since 1921, the company's business has included mining, operating iron plants and trading raw materials.

In 1924, SHW developed the car under the leadership of German automotive engine and automotive aerodynamicist Wunibald Kamm, and in 1925 it produced a very advanced car prototype at the time, using advanced ones including aluminum chassis and single-wheel suspension. Technology (the automobile project was abandoned that year).

After that, SHW's development was closely related to the progress of the global automotive industry. It now operates around the world and has factories in Europe (Germany), the United States (Canada in 2014 and Brazil in 2014) and Asia (China in 2016).

SHW's products include three main business areas: pump and engine components, powder metallurgy and brake discs.

Pump and engine assembly

SHW develops and manufactures pumps for engine and transmission applications for all customer bases. Specifically, the team produces engine and transmission oil pumps, electric auxiliary pumps, vacuum pumps, electronic pumps with start and stop functions, oil/vacuum pumps with or without balance shafts, variable water pumps, and passenger car camshaft phaser . SHW manufactures engine oil pumps, transmission oil pumps and fuel pumps for trucks and off-highway vehicles. SHW also provides an electric transmission oil pump as an auxiliary device for hybrid powertrain and powertrain pumps, as well as a lubricating oil pump for cooling in hybrid driving mode. In this field, SHW combines functionality, weight reduction and size reduction.

Powder metallurgy

Every year, SHW powder metallurgy (a processing method for pressing and sintering metal powder as raw materials to make various products) produces about 30 million sintered parts for the automotive industry. These parts are made of sintered steel and aluminum, including pump gears, components of camshaft phaser, and sprockets and rotors. SHW is known for its innovative cost-effective production technology as well as award-winning sintered parts made of highly durable aluminum.

Brake disc

SHW focuses on the production of composite brake discs, internally ventilated brake discs and integral brake discs.
