The company was founded in 1844 by German immigrant August Schrader. It was originally a small machinery factory in Manhattan, New York. Shureid was a professional mechanic and a talented inventor. In the spring of 1844, he used the money he had saved to buy the machines he needed and then opened his own factory. Shureid develops air supply accessories and valves for rubber products such as inflatable pillows and life jackets.
