Brand Introduction

In 1895, Ernst Sax and Karl Fichtel co-founded the "Schweinfurter Präcisions-Kugellager-Werke Fichtel & Sachs", which is now ZF Sax The prototype of the company.

Ernst Sachs has shown a strong interest and ambition in technology mechanisms since childhood. As an amateur rider, he found that the bearings were not running smoothly enough during bicycle races. His pursuit of perfection ultimately led to the development of the first precision wheel. After moving to Schweinfurt, he met the accomplished businessman Carl Fisitel.

In 1894, a patent was registered for an invention by Sachs, prompting them to start a joint company. At the beginning of its establishment, Sax served as technical director, while Fisitel was responsible for providing funds to the company and managing business affairs. In this way, the two embarked on a difficult entrepreneurial journey.

Torpedo wheels for bicycles were introduced in 1903, and bicycles as public transportation promoted rapid business growth, marking the beginning of the rise of the company. In 1905, the company already had 900 employees.

In the early fifties, the legendary "Sachser" achieved new sales success, a 50cc engine with a two-speed transmission for mopeds. In 1995, Fichtel & Sachs had representative offices around the world and had 38 production and sales companies. The company was renamed ZF Sachs AG, which became part of the ZF Group in 2001 and was incorporated into ZF Friedrichshafen AG in 2011.
