Since 1968, ROYAL CANIN® (Royal Pet Food®) has been committed to tailor-made nutritious foods for cats and dogs to create a better world for pets.

Jean Cathary was born in May 1927 in a small French town called Le Piña. His career as a veterinarian began with the treatment of horses and cattle. Over the years, he has gradually believed that food can affect the health of animals. In 1968, he designed the dog food - "Yellow Soup" and registered the ROYAL CANIN® brand.

In 1972, Royal Pet Food was acquired by Guyomarc'h Group, bringing Royal experience in nutrition and food formulas. Guyomarc'h Group provides financial support, R&D resources, and strategic and marketing expertise, but also gives the Royal team sufficient autonomy. Since the beginning of 1974, Royal Pet Food products have been sold in eight European countries - France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands. In 1985, ROYAL CANIN® (Royal Pet Food®) cooperated with 4 importers and successfully landed in the United States.

In 1994, the RCFI series product was launched - the triple revolution of cat food. "RCFI series of products provide high-quality nutrition for pets, dry food products are provided through professional channels of breeders and veterinarians, while cat wet food products are provided through supermarkets. In 1997, the Royal Body Size Series was launched, which is based on dog body shape. Nutritional solutions designed for age. In 1999, exclusive breed pet food was designed for Persian cats. Almond-shaped pellets are designed to match Persian cats' chin structure and eating habits, while nutritional composition meets the unique health needs of Persian cats .

In 2002, the Royal Family became a member of the Mars family. In 2009, the Royal Wet Grain Series was launched, with a full-price cat wet grain series, and entered the professional pet trade and retail industry, opening up the Royal Wet Grain category. With the launch of the Asian factory, Royal has 9 factories around the world, achieving global production.

Royal has been developing for 10 years and launched food designed for allergic dogs in 2012. This food is a breakthrough nutritional solution designed for pets with extreme food allergic reactions. This food pellet is made of hydrolyzable proteins (oligopeptides) and is very easy to digest without being detected by the overly sensitive immune system.

In 2016, the critically ill liquid nutrition solution series was launched, and liquid full-price pet food specially customized for tube feeding helps veterinarians provide nutrition for cats and dogs at critical moments. This food can help sick cats and dogs get the important nutrients they need and recover quickly.

In 2018, the completion of the Royal 16th factory in Jinti City, South Korea allowed the East Asia region to be further expanded. At the same time, the Royal Park has been further expanded and a global innovation center has been established to create a better world for pets.
