Rodonsid was born in Würzburg, Germany. In 1877, a traveling businessman named Joseph Rodunsted moved to Würzburg, Germany and began the manufacturing and sale of barometers, precision balances and measuring instruments. Since 1878, the company further began the research and production of lenses and frames.
Joseph Rodunsid has always believed that visual impairment is not a disease and can be corrected as long as you wear the right glasses. So, in 1880, he launched the world's first pair of "coated lenses", which immediately sold well.
As early as 1882, Rodonsid products were exported to Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy and Russia. In 1883, the company moved to Munich. Joseph Rodunsid bought a new site near a tributary of the Isa River, which was the company's current base, and in early 1886 it still belonged to the outside of the city. At that time, the existing residential buildings were converted into handicraft processing sites, specially used to manufacture eyeglasses, telescopes, camera lenses and light-visual equipment.
Camera lenses and lenses are two important pillars of the company's operation. Rodonsid uses the profits made by these two major businesses to invest to further expand the company's development scale.
In 1898, a farm in the suburb of Fabalia Reagan was renovated and expanded into a production base for lenses and optical lenses. Subsequently, more manufacturing plants were established near the Reagan area; however, during the Great Depression, these plants were forced to close, and only the Reagan area factories maintained Rodonsid's leadership in the production and development of lenses.
