Beijing Ruifengxiang Silk Store is a time-honored Chinese brand named by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, with a store history of more than a hundred years.
In the late Qing Dynasty, in the 19th year of Guangxu (1893), Meng Luochuan, a native of Zhangqiu County, Shandong Province, relied on his family's strength to start a business in Zhoucun. After Jinan, Qingdao and Tianjin, he invested 80,000 taels of silver, and was appointed outside the Qianmen of Beijing. Meng Jinhou, who has operated Shandong's "Zhaizi Bu" for many years, opened this silk cloth shop in Dazhalan. Referring to the allusion of "Qingfeng Returns Money" in "Huainanzi" and "Soushen Ji", it is named "Ruifengxiang". Therefore, the lower end of the second door of the store was clasped with a "straight"-shaped copper skin. After opening, the business was booming and its reputation was great. In just seven years, it had a capital of 400,000 taels of silver, ranking first among the "Eight Great Goods". The song "Wearing Ruifengxiang" that has been circulating in Beijing for many years is a vivid portrayal of Ruifengxiang's reputation in the capital.
In 1900, although Ruifengxiang was caught in a fire, Meng Luochuan and Meng Jinhou had no ambitions. Around 1902, the store with high walls, thick doors, and complete equipment was rebuilt on the ruins, showing its grandeur again. It was this magnificent and sturdy store that ensured that Ruifengxiang survived a "mutine" under Yuan Shikai's subordinates 10 years later. The scattered soldiers who mutinyed in 1912 were unable to do anything to Ruifengxiang, who had been coveting for a long time. In order to maintain Ruifengxiang's leading position in Dashilan's fabric management, Meng Luochuan opened five stores on this street, becoming a large cloth store that was popular in the north and south of my country in the early 20th century. Now, Ruifengxiang’s two-story building with a patio is the only store in Dashilan that maintains the original appearance of the time-honored brand and has been listed as a national cultural relic protection unit.
In the early days of Ruifengxiang's business, the plain-patterned fabric with high quality and low price was loved by customers. It still maintains its best-selling momentum decades later. This colored cloth is dyed with good white cloth (including foreign cloth). Ruifengxiang has strict bleaching and dyeing technology. Cloths that have just been out of the dyeing room are strictly prohibited from being launched immediately. They must be packaged and stored in the cloth cellar for more than half a year. Only when the dye slowly penetrates each yarn can it be sold. Although it affects capital turnover, it still insists on being meticulous. This process similar to aged wine and vinegar is called "buffering color"; after the muffled cloth, the shrinkage rate is small and the cloth surface is flat. The color is even and not easy to fade.

The silk towns are everywhere in the south of the Yangtze River and the Silk Road is connected to the world. Ruifengxiang promoted the national treasures, judged the situation, and turned to gather silk fine products from all over the country and furry goods from all ethnic groups in Beijing, facing all classes from royal palaces, dagongs, pear garden artists, ladies from wealthy families, jaspers from small families to ordinary people. In order to ensure quality, many silk products are fixed weaving and dyeing like colored cloth. Special people go to Suzhou and Hangzhou to find reliable manufacturers to order goods; when the products are shipped, they must be carefully inspected by Ruifengxiang's technicians, and only if they meet the requirements can they be received. Strictly controlling purchases is a major feature of Ruifengxiang's business.
Ruifengxiang's fur goods are also famous for their excellent texture and variety. Before 1930 (before the Japanese invasion of China), they insisted on sending capable personnel to Zhangjiakou, Jiaocheng, Shanxi and Shunde Prefecture, Hebei to purchase fur goods from northern my country and even northern Asia. , such as Hailong, Mizuse, Lynx, Sable, and Beach Sheepskin, all purchased goods; fur goods were sent to Beijing by escort carts by escort bureau, which shows that their value was expensive. The quality of Ruifengxiang fur has been maintained until today, and the precious sea dragon cloak is breathtaking.

In 1949, Ruifeng Xiang and Dashilan, many time-honored brands, ushered in the dawn of democracy and the liberation of Peking. The first five-star red flag that slowly rose in the founding ceremony was made of fabrics provided by Ruifengxiang; since then, the time-honored brand Ruifengxiang gained a new life from the "deterioration of situations" under the rule of the Kuomintang. Since the reform and opening up, Ruifengxiang has carried forward the good tradition of combining selling fabrics and helping customers process clothing. Since 2002, Ruifengxiang has been rated as a famous trademark in Beijing, in 2005, and in 2008, it has been awarded the title of China's No. 1 Silk Brand.
