Karsten Solheim, the founder of PING, was born in Bergen, Norway in 1911. When he was a child, he immigrated to the United States with his parents to settle in Seattle. During World War II, he assisted in the development of the first three-wheeled landing equipment and fireball jet fighter. "I found that using simple physical and mechanical principles can create clubs that are more effective, so that the balls you push out will always deviate from the target line," Karsten Solheim said.
