Shanghai Phoenix Blanket is a well-known brand of domestic blankets. It has a history of many years since its establishment in 1922. Now Shanghai Phoenix Blanket Industry is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Leading Group Co., Ltd.
The Phoenix Blanket originated from a yarn mill founded by the merchant Lu Peizhi in 1922. In the following years, the factory was transferred several times and occupied by the Japanese invading China in 1937. It was classified as a naval garment factory and specializes in weaving military blankets. In 1943, the yarn mill was revoked by Japanese businessman Dezhen Zhengzang and renamed Mingfeng yarn mill.
In September 1945, Mingfeng Spinning Mill was taken over by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (i.e. China Textile Construction Company) and renamed the Shanghai No. 18 Cotton Textile Factory. It expanded cotton spinning equipment, mainly produced cotton yarn and thread, and also operated cotton blankets until Shanghai was liberated. At the end of 1955, it specialized in cotton blankets and wool blankets.
In 1972, US President Nixon began to visit China. At that time, according to the instructions of the municipal government, as a political task, the 18th Cotton Textile Factory in Shanghai redesigned and registered the trademark "Phoenix" it used, and the new "Phoenix Blanket" was used as the country. The gift was given to US President Nixon, and since then, the Shanghai Phoenix Blanket has been well-known at home and abroad and has become popular in the market.
Starting from September 1978, the cotton blanket business will be delegated to the Nanhui Commune Factory for production. The 18th Cotton Textile Factory is equipped with the first phase of Shanghai Kingsoft Petrochemical Engineering, specializing in the production of acrylic blankets and blankets, and the factory name is changed to Shanghai Blanket Factory.
