PENTAXMedical is a branch of the HOYA Group that provides endoscopic imaging solutions and is a diversified multinational company with research and development innovation and manufacturing centers in Japan, Europe and the United States. Pentax Medical was founded in Japan in 1919 and was originally named Asahi Optical Co., Ltd. In 1970, Pentax Medical was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In 2005, Pentax, the United States acquired Kay Elemetrics. 2008 HOYACorporation acquired PENTAX. In 2013, HOYA Heuer Group and Wassenburg Medical Devices established a joint venture in the field of endoscopy. In 2015, Pentax Medical invested in Creo Medical Co., Ltd. In 2017, Pentax Medical acquired C2Therapeutics, which owns CryoBalloon ablation technology for the treatment of Barrett's esophageal and squamous dysplasia.
