NatureWorks in the United States is a polylactic acid manufacturer with a large production capacity. It was founded in 1997 by Dow Chemical and Cargill (CDP) in the United States. It was then called Cargill Dow Polymers (CDP) and was later renamed NatureWorks. NatureWorks built the world's largest polylactic acid production plant in 2001. It is currently the world's annual polylactic acid production plant with an annual output of 150,000 tons. It also plans to build a 70,000 tons branch in Southeast Asia, with the main raw material being corn starch.
