AMCOL International is a leading global bentonite producer, acquired by Mineral Technology Corporation (MTI) in 2014. It is estimated that the company's annual bentonite production accounts for approximately 15% of the world's total, with most of it being distributed in Wyoming (Crorey and Lovell) and Alabama (Sand Ridge). MTI will also produce bentonite from mines and factories in Australia (gurulmundi region), China (Jianping), Mexico and Turkey (Enez Bay region), and include Australia, China, India, Poland, South Korea, Thailand. Other countries, including the United Kingdom, have also set up factories to process imported and local bentonite clay. MTI has many mixed earth factories in the United States, dedicated to the production of mixed earth for casting; these products are called "Additrol" and are custom bentonite mixtures that also contain carbon products, cereals, iron oxides, and starch. MTI not only supplies most of the bentonite market, but also plant-produced geosynthetic clay liners have also set up factories to produce composite clay pads in the United States, Poland and other regions around the world.
