Brand Introduction

MSC Mediterranean Cruise is one of the two major cruise brands under the family-owned MSC Mediterranean Shipping Group. The Group has a 300-year sailing history and is a leader in the shipping and logistics field. The company is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the world's third largest cruise brand, Europe, South America, South Africa and the Middle East cruise market, with leading local market share. and capacity deployment.

MSC Mediterranean Cruise is also a fast-growing cruise brand around the world, with a total of 22 ultra-modern cruise ships currently. The MSC Mediterranean Cruise Fleet is expected to grow to 23 cruise ships by 2025, and there are still 6 alternative shipbuilding orders by 2030. The world's leading Mediterranean cruise ship has always maintained a high sense of responsibility and has always been committed to maintaining and improving the real environment and humanistic atmosphere of the company's operations. Due to its emphasis on marine ecological protection and crew/guest health and safety, Mediterranean Cruise has won numerous awards and certifications.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Group, the parent company of Mediterranean Cruise, was founded in 1970 by Gianluigi Aponte of the Aponte family. The young Italian seaman also worked as a bank teller, but he was extremely courageous and visionary and bought his first ship in the year and started the company. He bought a larger ship in 1971 and named it after his wife's name Rafaela, and then bought the cargo ship USE in 1973. These three cargo ships are the starting point of MSC. Today, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has more than 510 ships, becoming the global leader in container shipping.

In 1988, MSC announced its entry into the cruise industry and purchased the iconic cruise ship Monterey. After purchasing Monterey, MSC also bought Lauro Shipping's cruise business in honor of Gianluigi Aponte's spiritual mentor and Italian shipping tycoon Achille Lauro. Since then, the company's fleet has added two new cruise ships, Rhapsody and Melody, and MSC Mediterranean Cruise is officially established as a subsidiary of the MSC Group.

MSC Mediterranean Cruises has one of the world's most modern and dynamic fleets, thanks to a large investment plan launched in 2003 with an investment of up to 5.5 billion euros. The company has built four "lyric"-class cruise ships in just ten years, and then built four magnificent "Music"-class cruise ships and four stunning "Fantasy"-class flagship cruise ships. They all have the iconic features of MSC Mediterranean Cruise, blending traditional elegance and innovative design.

In 2008, with its super high standards in the fields of environmental protection and health and safety, MSC Mediterranean Cruise became a cruise company that won the industry-respected "Six Golden Pearl" award of the French International Inspection Agency. This honor was awarded by the French International Inspection Agency, the leading international verification agency, to commend MSC Mediterranean cruise ships to meet the three major international standards in the fields of environmental protection and health and safety. MSC Mediterranean Cruise continues to protect the marine environment and provide guests with good quality services.

In 2014, MSC launched a new €5 billion plan to work with the French Atlantic Shipyard and the Italian Fencantini Shipyard to build four revolutionary new cruise ships, as well as the option to build three more cruise ships. In addition, MSC Mediterranean Cruise also spent 200 million euros to commission the Italian Fencantini Shipyard to expand and renovate the "lyric" class cruise ship. This "cruise rebirth plan" was completed at the end of 2015. The cruise ships have a tonnage of 60,000 tons and can accommodate nearly 2,000 guests.

In 2016, the investment amount in the second phase of the investment plan has increased to 9 billion euros, and a letter of intent has been signed to rebuild four "world-class" cruise ships equipped with a new generation of LNG propulsion technology. That is to say, from 2017 to 2026, a total of up to 11 new new generation cruise ships will be put into operation. MSC Mediterranean Cruises’ investment planning cycle and scale have set a precedent in the industry. It is a global cruise brand with such a grand plan, spanning more than ten years from 2014 to 2026.

From 2017 to 2018, the second expansion plan of the MSC Mediterranean Cruise Joint Fleet has ordered two additional "Coastline" class cruise ships and the fifth "Legendary" class cruise ship. From 2014 to 2026, the total investment reached 13.6 billion euros. The two "Coastline EVO" cruise ships will be delivered in 2021 and 2023 respectively, which will show the successful transformation of the "Coastline" series, with passenger capacity reaching 5,646 people. The fifth "Legendary" class cruise ship will be delivered in 2023, with a passenger capacity of 6,334 people. Just like the "world" cruise ship, it will also adopt a new generation of LNG propulsion technology to effectively reduce the impact on the environment. Four new generations of "high luxury" cruise ships will also bring new comfortable experiences to guests.
