In the same year, Kaiyuan and the Lao government officially signed a mining and processing contract in the first mining area. In 2011, the first phase of the 500,000-ton project was officially started. In March 2014, the mining project and the ground processing plant construction project were fully completed, and the entire system was completed. In 2015, the first phase of the project achieved full production and standards.

In response to the national policy of "three thirds" potash fertilizer, in August 2014, the first ship of Laos Kaiyuan's overseas self-produced potash fertilizer arrived in China's ports, marking the first successful product feeding for Chinese overseas potash companies. The innovation not only has a milestone significance for the development of the potassium fertilizer industry, but also has inspired many Chinese-funded enterprises to go global to exploit potassium fertilizer. In 2016, with its absolute strength and market prospects, Lao Kaiyuan successfully reorganized and listed in China.

The company plans to build a production plant with an annual output of 1.5 million tons in two phases, and ultimately increase the production capacity to 3 million tons, and build an Asia's first-class potassium fertilizer production base. At present, the second phase project is under intense and orderly construction. After the project is completed, it will greatly drive local social and economic development and improve the employment level of local residents.
