Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, also known as Hitachi GST, was officially announced today to be renamed HGST (Yuke Global Storage Technology Co., Ltd.) after the completion of the merger and acquisition through Western Digital Corporation (WDC) in March 2012.

In order to comply with relevant antitrust regulations, HGST and WD are currently two independently operated subsidiaries under WDC, with different brands and product lines.

After the name change, HGST's current business and products will not be affected. Except for products that have been discontinued, the rest of HGST products will continue to be sold. HGST will also fulfill the product's warranty period.
