Business in China can be traced back to the 1980s. In March 1988, "Beijing Hamamatsu Photonic Technology Co., Ltd." (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Hamamatsu"), jointly invested by the Beijing Nuclear Instrument Factory of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry of China and Hamamatsu Group, was established. After more than 30 years of development, Beijing Hamamatsu has become a comprehensive enterprise integrating research, development, production and service. Hamamatsu's overseas manufacturing base is built with an annual production line of 400,000 photomultiplier tubes, and is constantly developing into a series of products that are applied in the field of photon technology. During the growth process, the company has also continued to receive support and attention from seniors in the academic and industrial circles of China Optics.

In August 2011, in order to better support China's photonic technology and optical industry, Hamamatsu Photonics Trading (China) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hamamatsu China") was established. Hamamatsu China is the marketing and business activity center of Hamamatsu Group in China, and is responsible for the sales, technical support and after-sales service of Hamamatsu products in China. It deeply combines Hamamatsu Group's global vision and advanced technology with China's real market demand, in order to provide customers with certain technical solutions and cost-effective products.

At present, Hamamatsu China has served more than 6,500 customers. Behind it is China's real industrial upgrading needs, witnessing China's security inspection item machines, high-end medical equipment, environmental analysis instruments, energy exploration, power battery testing, autonomous driving, and semiconductor testing , communication and other fields are developing rapidly. The company has branches in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan, and has offices in Langfang and Hangzhou.
