The Canon brand originated from the "Canon plastic wrap" launched by CEO David Darroch in the United States in 1963, a polyethylene film used as food packaging. Douglas G. Taylor was transferred from the United Carbide Factory in Pittsburgh to lead the Canon brand project in the same year. Mr. Taylor led the sale and market of Canon products until he retired from United Carbide in 1985, after which Canon was sold to the brand. Douglas G. Taylor died on August 13, 1996 in Hilton Head. The brand originated from United Carbide, but was divested to a company in the United States in 1985. In 2002, Clorox allowed Procter & Gamble to purchase a 10% stake in Canon products and has since joined forces to operate the brand. Three years later, Procter & Gamble exercised its privileges under this agreement to increase ownership by 20%.
In 1999, CLOROX acquired the Canon brand, injecting CLOROX's values and corporate culture into Canon. In 2001, CLOROX (Guangzhou) Enterprise Management Co., Ltd. (formerly Guangzhou Jialiang Chemical Co., Ltd.) became the headquarters of CLOROX Company in China, responsible for Canon's corporate business. Canon, one of the world's best-selling fresh-preserving products brands, has broad market prospects in China. Canon fresh preservation products are made of food grade materials, are certified by China QS and more in line with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards. In order to meet consumer needs, Canon has continuously developed new products. It now has plastic wrap, fresh bags, sealed bags, aluminum foil, garbage bags and other series in China, and will continue to develop and implement CLOROX's mission-"We will make every day Life is better”.
