Gems Sensing and Control Company dates back decades. In 1955, the company's founder Edward H. Moore developed the first liquid level indicator in the basement and obtained unique technology in 1959. Edward H. Moore and Gordon Seigle later founded Gems (the company name was taken from the initial letters of the two names - GS and EM).
Gems' commercial success comes from a bilge switch for small shipbuilding. As Gems products quickly gained recognition from the marine and industrial sectors, the company's staff and facilities continued to expand—the factory building expanded from its initial 6.500 square feet to 60.000 square feet in Plainville, Connecticut, USA.
Today, Gems specializes in the design and manufacturing of various types of liquid level, flow and pressure sensors, micro solenoid valves and pre-installed jet systems, and joins Fortive Group, a world-renowned Forty 500 company. Production bases are located in North America, Europe and Asia, and sales, design and service offices are set up around the world.
