It was formed by a group of innovative directors and the company quickly expanded into other related technical fields. Each independent company produces recorders (Chessell), control systems (TCS/Turnbull control systems) and transmissions (SSD/Shackleton system drivers). All four companies have achieved international success and merged in 1974 to form Eurotherm International.
