In 1954, the Dunhuang harmonica was born at the public-private joint venture Central Harmonica Factory. In 1957, the "public-private joint venture central harmonica factory" was changed to "Shanghai Central Harmonica Factory". In 1966, "Shanghai Central Harmonic Factory" was renamed "State-owned Shanghai Central Harmonic Factory". In 1980, the "State-owned Shanghai Central Hardkey Factory", "Shanghai Zhongxing Hardware Factory" and "Shanghai Xinxing Machinery Factory" merged to establish the "Shanghai Hardkey Factory", named "Shanghai Hardkey Factory One", "Secondkey Factory Two", and " Factory Three”. Later, the "Second Factory" was renamed "Shanghai Oriental Musical Instrument Factory", and the Dunhuang harmonica was then produced by Shanghai Oriental Musical Instrument Factory. After various historical changes, production has never stopped. At that time, many other items printed with Dunhuang harmonica patterns were derived, with far-reaching influence. The Dunhuang harmonica plays an important role in the harmonica industry.

In 1997, the Dunhuang harmonica was acquired by Oriental Musical Instruments. For more than 20 years, Oriental Musical Instruments have been devoted to research and carving them carefully, and innovating on the basis of inheritance, injecting new connotations into the Dunhuang harmonica and giving new artistic colors. Over the past 68 years, the Dunhuang harmonica has been rising and falling, standing firmly, and has been precipitated and has become an "old reputation" and "old brand" in the eyes of everyone. The Dunhuang harmonica insists on inheriting and inheriting classics, but is not bound by tradition, bold and innovative, and craftsmanship. Dunhuang harmonica has successively launched four series: "The Song of Huang", "The Dream of Huang", "The Peak of Huang" and "Pangu Zhenyi".
