In 1945, Luke Duerle and Dick Lynn founded the company, revolutionizing the operation and performance of rotating equipment. They combined their last name and named the new company Dubolin. Its first product is an innovative rotor design that includes a balanced mechanical seal.

At that time, the most popular type of sealing mechanism was pressure sealing. These seals rely on system pressure to maintain mating surface friction, which proves to be problematic when the device speed increases. Especially for printing presses, pressure seals are prone to wear out quickly.

Luke saw the opportunity to change the industry standards, and the design was immediately successful. By designing the mechanical seal as a swivel joint, Luke pushed the company to the forefront of the industry and pushed the Dubolin company, a development that continues to this day.

In addition to printing machines, Luke continues to design joints for a wide range of applications, including air clutches, gear boxes, machine spindles, textile equipment, continuous casting machines, paper machines, and rubber manufacturing machinery.

The design proves to be so efficient and reliable that almost any industry that requires the delivery of air, water, oil or hydraulic fluid from a fixed source to the rotating part of the equipment uses Dubolin products.

After a few years of the company's successful start, Dick decided to focus on another business, and he sold his stake to Luke.

Dubolin was acquired by the Swiss-based private industrial company Holbyg Group in 2019.
