Bowers & Wilkins Brand Ranking
Brand Introduction

John Bowers, the founder of B&W (Bowers & Wilkins), has been working hard throughout his life to pursue the faithful restoration of music.

In 1966, John and his close friend Peter Hayward founded B&W, and the following year launched the first speaker P1 (Professional). They live a simple life and reinvest most of their profits in research and development in order to create an excellent speaker as soon as possible. Until now, all products above the 300 series are produced in B&W's UK factory.

At that time, basic coil and circuit knowledge in the industry was very popular; but I didn’t understand the mutual influence of the speaker and the surrounding environment, and I didn’t know much about the movement of the sound basin. Until John invested in the development of using laser to observe the vibration of the cone, the rules of the cone movement were thoroughly understood. In 1974, DM6 was successfully developed, and KevlarR bulletproof fiber was also used as a cone material. The subsequent DM7 began B&W's overhead treble design.

John is closely related to the recording engineering community and has obtained a lot of valuable professional advice. Therefore, when B&W's reference 801 was launched in 1979, it was immediately adopted by major studios as a recording auditor. It may be the most sold speaker in the world, selling more than 30,000 pairs in total. In 1986, B&W developed the MATRIXTM1,2,3 models, using a matrix speaker structure. In 1987, MATRIXTM801 was completed, establishing the position of 801 in the professional recording industry.

John died in 1987. At present, under the leadership of President Joe Atkins, B&W cooperates with strong sales teams around the world to develop steadily. In 1993, the breakthrough Nautilus™ (Nautilus) was developed, shocking the entire audio industry.

In 1998, the NautilusTM800 series was launched, and the NautilusTM (Nautilus) technology was promoted to a more affordable and popular market. John Bowers' passion for music has been passed down, and it remains the core of B&W's corporate culture today.

The SignatureTM800 and NautilusTM800 launched in 2001 for the 35th anniversary of B&W are the limited collections that music lovers desire.

SignatureTM805 was launched again in 2003. Liu Hansheng, editor-in-chief of the Audio Forum, described it as an indescribable shark fin dish.

In 2004, the 700 series will be launched, continuing the extension of the 800 series technology, which can directly correspond to the new format SACD and DVD-A.

B&W37 has been working hard for the reappearance of ideal sound, and has made a model for the speaker market. Today, more than 80% of the classical recordings in the world are selected as speakers made by B&W.

B&W's position in audio design and production cannot be challenged. Our Nautilus™800 series speakers are designated for use by EMI Abbey Road studio. In fact, our passion for music and our investment in audio technology are intended to enable everyone to enjoy beautiful music.

B&W philosophy is very simple: nothing can block or blur the expression of music; it must be absolutely faithful to all the details of the original sound. This innocent vision drives us every step forward and explains why B&W can become a world-wide standard in studio reference systems.

The very beautiful Nautilus™ Nautilus speaker is the crystallization of B&W's pursuit of reaching the pinnacle with the ambition of two generations of scientists. Its birth is shocking and has been highly praised by critics from all over the world. The reproduction of clean, impurities-free, zero rendering and transparent sound is an ideal that has always been dream of in audio craftsmanship, and it is also a rare treasure that combines technology and artistic creation.
