The Bicon system design began in 1968. The earlier research was done by Thomas Driskell at the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Driskell's original implant design was to use high-density alumina as the material for the implant. In 1981, Driskell introduced an implant called Titanodont, which is made of titanium alloy. Then, in 1985, he perfected his titanium implant design and patented under the name of DB Precision implants, the Bicon oral implant system that is well known today. I don’t know if Driskell could have imagined when designing implants. His design and Bicon’s clinical support have brought a revolution to oral implantology in the 21st century.

Bicon's unique fin design follows the principles of bioengineering well, so short implants can be used. Its unique bacterial-enclosed, conical column-locking implant-abutment connection method can achieve 360° multi-directional abutment positioning - which is extremely flexible compared to other implant systems. Bicon implant’s oblique shoulder design can achieve aesthetic repairs simply and continuously, because the bone level is easily maintained above the implant’s shoulders, which provides good support for the gingival papilla.
